ABCUSD Board of Trustee Candidate Town Hall
On Thursday, October 15th from 6:45 to 8:30 pm the Whitney High School Black Family Collective invites you to meet the candidates for ABC School Board Trustees. This November there will be a school board election for four of the seven seats. Four is a significant number because it represents a board majority.
Three of the current board trustees, Leticia Mendoza, Sophia Tse, and Chris Apodaca are up for re-election. However, there are some newcomers that are campaigning to be trustees as well, Brad Beach, Mel Cortez, and Michael Eugenio. With the state of affairs within our nation, now more than ever, it is important to be informed about the issues that effect us and the people that represent us. This town hall is an opportunity to hear directly from the school board members and potential board members.
To attend the event, please register by visiting https://tinyurl.com/WHSBAATownHall2020
We look forward for you to join us Thursday, October 15th from 6:45 to 8:30pm
PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT IS IN NO WAY SPONSORED OR SANCTIONED BY/ON BEHALF OF THE ABC UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICE. ABCUSD REMAINS NEUTRAL IN ALL ELECTION MATTERS.

WHS Black History 101: The Black Experience at Whitney High School
It is imperative that while we are laying the foundation for our collective Black family community, that we also understand the nuances of our experiences through one another's respective lens. Join us as we conduct our first annual accelerated course - Black History 101: Intro to the WHS Black Experience. On this evening, we will time travel through the 80s, 90s, early 2000s, 2010s, and arrive safely at the students currently walking through those hallways with collapsable walls lined with orange lockers. If you would like to contribute to this presentation or send pictures from your own personal archives, please feel free to reach out to socialmedia@whsblackalumni.org.
